Q. Is Shifters dead?
A. No. It is not. I am still working on it, but I am not currently publically posting new pages until I have a significant backlog. This ensures that when the comic returns, there will be no long breaks again before content is posted. But I’m not going to post anything until I am good and ready. But just because I’m not posting them publicly, doesn’t mean I’m not doing them.
Q. When will it be coming back?
A. Eventually. I’m not going to give a due date, because I’ll just create a bunch of hype and then blow it. I know me. So I’m not going to give anything firm until I’m absolutely sure I can make it. I’m not a student anymore, I work full time, I have a relationship and RL responsibilities. Shifters is not my work, its my hobby. I treat it as such. I work on it when I feel like working on it. After the abuse I’ve suffered for it, this is the best I can do.
Q. Do you need help writing?
A. No, I already have all my story pretty much fleshed out, I do not need any help writing.
Q. Would you like to use my characters?
A. While it might seem like a nice offer, generally speaking I don’t like to use characters that are not mine for copyright reasons. Been there, done that. I’m only using characters that are my own, or have been legally signed over for my use. On paper.. and signed with blood. IF there is a character I want to use of someone’s, I will approach them, not the other way around.
Q. Can I be in your comic?
A. The general answer to this is ‘no’, because otherwise everyone and their monkey would be up my ass in a heartbeat to be in the comic. BUT that being said, sometimes I have fundraising auctions for ‘cameo’ slots. If you keep your eye out for one of these, you might be able to snag one. Then yes, if you’ve paid for it, you can be in the comic. But there are a limited number of these available on a yearly basis.
Q. Is Shifters based on Whitewolf’s Werewolf: the Apocalypse?
A. No. It is originally based on an alternate reality source book for R. Talsorian’s Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop RPG with my own flare twisted in. While parts of it may seem similar to WW:tA, its because they raped werewolf and general totemic mythology as much as I did, and apparently in similar ways. There are significant differences in them, but people seem to want to attribute them to a game I have neither read, nor played.
Q. Is Shifters based on the movie Underworld?
A. No. Shifters predated the movie, having been originally concieved and published in 1998. See above for more details.
Q. Why do your characters have such large breasts?
A. Because that’s how I feel like drawing them. If you have a problem with that, go away. I’m not making you look at my art, and I honestly don’t care about your insecurities. Some girls have big boobs in real life. I’m one of them. Deal.
Q. May I use your characters and world for an RPG?
A. I’d prefer if you didn’t. Everyone gets it wrong. We have one here though, if you’d like to play. Although chances are you probably want to be a Kinsmir.. which we don’t allow in our game because its munchkin. If you do decide to play a kinsmir or a character from my universe and get it wrong (because you will), I will find it eventually and it will probably end up on my ‘wall of shame‘. Eventually I hope to have an RPG book for people like you, but right now, I’d prefer if you didn’t try to interpret my work into yours when you know spit about it, especially when you have absolutely no desire to credit me or my work.
Q. Can I create fan stories or Fan art of your comic
A. Abso-frikken-lutely. I LOVE fan art, and fan stories! However, there is a couple of provisions here:
- You have to credit me and link back to shiftersonline.com EVERYWHERE you post it.
- You must submit a copy to me so I can flaunt it all over this website (in the correct section of course)
- You cannot claim any of my characters as yours, even if you use it in the story.
- Try to make it good. I hate Mary Sue stories. Comes off as wank.
Q. Do you accept adult art/stories of Shifters
A. Eh… this is a TAD touchy since technically most of the main characters are slightly underage.. but as long as they LOOK clearly adult, I’m not too wigged out. But try to be tasteful? And all the regular requirements of fan art/stories still apply. You can’t claim my stuff, and you HAVE to credit or link me.
Q. Do you do commissions?
A. Sometimes. Usually I auction them, or you can inquire if I’m taking them. However, I’m not cheap, and I don’t care if you can’t pay what I ask. If you don’t have the money for an iPod, the store isn’t going to take pitty on you and just give you one, and neither will I when it comes to art. My price is my price. I also tend to take a long time because I’m extremely busy, so bring lots of patience too. I do not do freebees, or trades either unless its with an artist I REALLY admire or its for something of equal value. I have done artwork in exchange for music work for example. It was an equitable trade.
